Hi, I’m Rosie. I’m a botanist with a B.S. in Plant Biology from UC Riverside. My degree didn’t mean spending all day with my hands in the dirt (I wish!) — most of my coursework focused on identifying native plants, studying their evolution, and understanding how plant genetics can be manipulated to solve real-world problems.
Now that I’ve graduated, I finally get to spend as much time as I want experimenting in my own backyard nursery. I grow a lot of tropical plants. I also keep notes on the insects and animals that wander through, because plants don’t exist in isolation — they’re part of the whole backyard ecosystem.
This site is my space to share experiments, observations, and the occasional garden mishap — and sometimes even offer plants, dragonfruit cuttings, or pollen for sale. Check back often!
